The America's Center was located across the street from the Renaissance Grand at 8th and Washington Streets. The Opening Ceremony, exhibit booths, poster sessions and learning sessions, President’s Lecture were held here. I thought this was a great facility. What did you think?

This spacious foyer greeted those of us after crossing 8th Street to enter the building. For the first time, a newspaper called FNCE News was available every two days to keep readers abreast of activities.

A large poster stationed in the foyer directed us to where we needed to go that day.

The escalators at America’s Center
Most of us attended events and sessions on the first and second floor. The Product Marketplace,
Exhibit Booths, Poster Sessions, DPG Showcase, large and smaller sessions were held on the first floor.

The Bookstore at FNCE on the first floor of America’s Center had great items for sale.

More of the spacious interior of the Center
The Center personnel were great and I’m sorry I didn’t take their photo. Often, they opened the doors to the foyer for us and directed us to the correct room for the session we arrived at just before it started. Although a map to both levels of the center and the headquarters hotel was contained in our directory, it helped to receive direction from these personnel.

A view from the second floor of a candy cart on the first floor
There was a Bistro with coffee and ready-made sandwiches and salads. The
second floor had an abbreviated bistro and many session rooms. I
attended the President's Lecture in Hall 1 & 2 while eating a turkey
hoagie I'm embarrassed to admit. But I was inconspicuous; the hall was
so big, it could hold a Led Zeppelin reunion concert. I sat in the back
and viewed the speakers shown on screens descending from the ceiling.

Pennsylvania Dietetic Association contributed a basket of items “Made in PA” to the Silent Auction to raise money for the ADA Foundation. Thank you to each of the districts that contributed: measuring utensils, products from Crayola and book from the northeast.

Room 220 was the scene of the last session I attended, “Wound Care and Nutrition Update: Guidelines for Long-term Care”, an excellent session sponsored by CD-HCF, one of my DPGs. One of the speakers, Suzanne C. Cryst, RD, LD, is running for Chair-elect of CD-HCF. What a great opportunity to hear the director of nutrition services at a 351 bed LTC facility. I was able to apply lessons learned in the days after I returned to my work in Long-term Care. “As I learned at a presentation just yesterday at FNCE in St. Louis regarding protein supplementation, you need July 31, 2006s.”

Lisa W. Eckstein and Pat Dahlstrom of the CD-HCF DPG greeted attendees arriving at the “Wound Care” session on Tuesday. Lisa is the Treasurer of the DPG. Pat is the Area I Coordinator, now running for the Nominating Committee. Lisa and Pat personified how our members were personable and responsible. Maybe it was also the corsage I wore after resuscitating it in water overnight!

After leaving Room 220 to head back to the main part of the Center, this was the view. Of course, the view through that glass was the headquarters hotel.
Next, Pennsylvanians at the Exhibits
