DIET ANALYSIS SITES
http://nat.crgq.com
www.fitday.com
http://nat.crgq.com - I have used the Nutritional Analysis tool (NATS) from the University of Illinois. It's free, has a lot of foods, and also includes micronutrients in the analysis. They have a very inexpensive program you can download for your PDA.
http://nutrihand.com - It's geared towards diabetics, but it's a neat website because one can use it to log whatever they've eaten, how much they've exercised daily, and an analysis of their calorie balance after this. Also, one can get meal plans for many days, based on calorie level. And for diabetics, one can log blood sugars.
Sites for the US data base on line:
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/srch/search.htm
Healthy Eating Index and the new My Pyramid site gives a way to analyze the diet http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp. The Healthy Eating Index site is being revamped but it would be wise for students to get used to using the Pyramid Tracker site.
http://nat.crgq.com - Take a look at this online analysis program
Nutrition Analysis Tools and System” – NATS is at
www.myPyramid.gov - It has linked to the old healthy eating index.
www.nutribase.com - will take you to the home page...many options for purchasing software, but key down on the home page to get a free nutribase navigator. Possibly not enough for the class to complete an assignment, but may be a start for them (and you).
