The Outstanding Dietetic Student of the Year Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a student member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and recognizes a Pennsylvania dietetics student that shows emerging leadership and achievement and shows great<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">\u00a0promise in the field of nutrition and dietetics.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Rachel Duncan is a second-year student in the Coordinated Masters in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, also from the University of Pittsburgh, in 2016. Rachel is currently completing her clinical rotations at UPMC\u2019s Magee-Womens Hospital. Rachel has hoped to become a Registered Dietitian specializing in eating disorder recovery, even before beginning her formal nutrition education. She believes Registered Dietitians are an important member of the multidisciplinary eating disorder treatment team and can serve as advocates for people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Rachel is passionate about helping people practice self-compassion in a way that allows them to live their happiest healthiest life, both mentally and physically.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text_exposed_show\">Duncan accepted the award at the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annual meeting held on March 29, 2019 in Cranberry Twp, PA.
