Colleen Tewksbury, PhD, MPH, RD, LDN of Glenside was named an Emerging Dietetic Leader from the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Emerging Dietetic Leader Award recognizes the activities and competence of dietitians regardless of their age, who have made distinctive contributions early in their career to the Academy.
Tewksbury received her bachelor’s of science degree in dietetics from La Salle University in Philadelphia and completed her dietetic internship La Salle’s coordinated program. Tewksbury also holds a master in public health degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and doctorate of philosophy from Temple University’s College of Public Health. Tewksbury has been the Bariatric Program Manager at the University of Pennsylvania Health System for the past 5 years and a Senior Research Investigator for University of Pennsylvania for the past year.
Tewksbury accepted the award at the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annual meeting held on March 29, 2019 in Cranberry Twp, PA.
Colleen has held multiple positions for PAND and PhillyAND including being the outgoing immediate past-president of PhillyAND and incoming president-elect of PAND. She serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the new CSOWM board exam and is a facilitator for CDR’s Certificate of Training in Obesity Interventions for Adults. Now that Colleen has finished graduate school, in true millennial style, she spends most of her newfound free time traveling, trying new experiences, hiking, and working on home improvements with her husband, Rich, and rescue puppy, Luna.
