Congratulations to Erin Pover, MS, RDN, CSOWM, LDN of Scott Township who was named a Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year from the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award is presented to members of the Academy who are 35 years or younger, who have demonstrated leadership qualities and performance in public relations, research, community outreach, management, legislation, education, and other areas of the profession, both on the job and in the community.
Erin Pover graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master of Science in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition in 2009. Since graduating, she has worked in multiple inpatient clinical settings and transitioned to her current position at Highmark, Inc in December 2017 as a Wellness Coach. Several years into her career, Erin received the materials for the Level I Adult Weight Management certificate program at no cost after completing a survey from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. After the materials sat in her email inbox for months, she decided on a whim to complete the program to see if she “happened” to like weight management. Little did she know this would change the course of her career. Since that time, Erin completed the Level I and Level II Certificates of Training in Adult Weight Management and in September 2017, she obtained her credential as a Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management. Erin has volunteered at the District and State level in various roles, most recently as the Immediate Past-President of the Pittsburgh Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Social Media Co-Chair for PAND. Outside of work, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, Lily and Elena, running in the mornings, walking her dog Geno and reading. One interesting fact about Erin is that her extended family owns a dairy farm in Ireland and she has been fortunate enough to visit them twice.
Pover accepted the award at the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annual meeting held on March 29, 2019 in Cranberry Twp, PA. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.
