Position Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a candidate for an Education Program Specialist 3, who will be responsible for the following:

Plan, develop, and coordinate statewide educational opportunities for paraprofessionals and supervisors in the EFNEP and PA SNAP-Ed nutrition education programs including annual conference, new hire training, and continuing education. Serve in leadership positions and participate in Professional Development and Curriculum Work Groups. Research and oversee implementation of new curricula. Stay current on nutrition topics and share information with staff. Participate in monitoring and review of paraprofessionals’ educational programming to ensure compliance with Federal standards.

Position serves as expert on nutrition content and delivery of community education for statewide program. Supports and trains approximately 50 Nutrition Links nutrition education advisers and 12 supervisors. Makes decisions on expenditures for nutrition education training, programming and curriculum materials. The Nutrition Links State Office operates two federal programs, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Nutrition Education Program (SNAP-Ed). Nutrition Links reaches approximately 5,000+ participants per year.

This position requires extensive knowledge about: 1) scientific nutrition concepts and their application to community nutrition, 2) nutrition education curricula and other related resources, and 3) understanding of theories of teaching and learning, and 4) competence in sharing knowledge with staff and teaching them to be effective nutrition educators and group facilitators.

Typically requires a Bachelors degree or higher plus 4 years of related experience or an equivalent of education and experience. Master's degree and Registered Dietitian credential are strongly preferred.
